WIA Services

Workforce Investment Act of 1998

The WIA allows Oklahoma to create an employment and training system as unique as Oklahoma.

Our area’s service delivery plan is based on the following principles:

  • Streamlining services
  • Empowering individuals
  • Providing universal access

More information about the WIA is available on the United States Department of Labor website.

Adult Services

Adults who are 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States may receive WIA services. These services include: Skill Assessment, Career Counseling, Skill Upgrades, Occupational Training, and Referrals to job openings. You can access these services at any of our Workforce Centers.

Dislocated Worker Services

WIA Dislocated Worker services may be available if you have lost a job because of a layoff or business closing.  Services include an individual assessment of your marketable skills, career counseling, labor market information, and retraining to improve your employability. Certain eligibility criteria must be met. You can access these services at any of our Workforce Centers.

Youth Program

The purpose of the WIA Youth Program is to prepare the future workforce by serving economically disadvantaged young people ages 14-21.  Program activities such as leadership, mentoring, tutoring, and educational assistance, prepare youth for long-term success in the labor market. We recognize that today's young people represent our communities’ emerging workforce of tomorrow. East Central WIB serves youth who are 14-21 years old, and meet certain criteria for eligibility. You can access these services at any of our Workforce Centers.
